Xiaan Amersu - Page 2

Some time later, Xiaan met Jedi Master Quinlan Vos in the Meditation Garden in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Quinlan Vos was the master of another Twi'lek Jedi Knight, Aayla Secura. Both of Twi'lek heritage, the older Aayla took a special interest in Xiaan and informally looked after the young girl in her early years at the Temple. However, when Xiaan met Quinlan in the Meditation Garden, during the time Quinlan Vos had just returned to the Jedi Temple after having lost his memory. He and Aayla had gone on a mission that left Quinlan's memory erased, and Aayla still missing. The Jedi Master felt compassion for the young girl and, feeling lost himself, made an attempt to comfort her.

In the garden, Xiaan told Quinlan of her admiration for the two, how she had spent so much time in the Jedi archives reading about their adventures. Also in the garden, a gift known as a 'Heart of Fire.' A stone from Quinlan's homeworld, Quinlan gave it to Aayla who passed it along to her. Quinlan Vos had the unique skill of telemetry, the ability to read images off objects. Xiaan thought the Heart of Fire might be useful in helping Quin regain some of his lost memories regarding his missing Padawan. Even at such a young age, Xiaan was showing signs of wisdom that predicted her someday becoming a great Jedi Knight.

Over the next ten years, Xiaan did indeed grow into a fine Jedi Knight. When the Clone Wars broke out, Xiaan was given the command of a contingent of clonetroopers in the war against the Separatists. On the eve of her first battle, fate would allow the paths of Xiaan and Aayla to cross again. Master Secura had recently returned from a mission where she finally brought Aurra Sing to justice. Among Sing's possessions, the Jedi found her collection of lightsabers from murdered Jedi. Among those found was Xiaan's former Master, J'Mikel. Aboard a Republic cruiser on its way to the battlefront, Aayla returned it to Xiaan. With the return of her master's lightsaber and the source of her nightmares finally finished, Xiaan left for battle in high spirits.

As the Clone Wars raged on, Xiaan found herself on Saleucami towards the end of the war. There she served under the command of Jedi General Oppo Rancisis. There, she led clonetroopers into battle alongside Jedi Knights such as A'Sharad Hett, Sian Jeisel, K'Kruhk, and her old friends, Aayla and Quin. After five months of fighting, the campaign remained a stalemate. The Jedi and Republic forces simply could not penetrate the defense protecting the Separatist stronghold on Saleucami. But the consequences of failure proved too great to accept anything less than total victory. Count Dooku's henchman, Sora Bulq, began a program of cloning an army of Morgukai warriors trained by Anzati assassins to take on the clonetroopers.
